Stand Up, Stand Strong, Stand Together!
On March 20th, 2015 from 9am-12, the CMU volunteers spent their Friday morning in Lansing. In their auditorium, the different schools came together for this huge pep assembly. It started off with a speaker who talked about his experiences especially with his own child having autism. After his inspirational speech, the cheerleaders did a couple cheers on stage. They seemed very nervous but very excited to even be performing in front of hundreds of their peers. They continued on with the program with having a anti-bullying video which featured students holding up a sign of everything they were bullied for while having a black taped X across their mouth. This video was very sad but very eye opening to me and the students. When we entered the stage, we started off by having every school belt their pride out. We initiated leadership activities and games to get the 700 students to get pumped up! My group was the Stem Academy all wearing green proudly and they were the most energetic group there. When the fraternity was stepping/strolling, my group stood up to dance and sing proudly to their performance. They were laughing and looked like they were having the time of their life.
