On May 28th, I was able to volunteer with Special Olympics Michigan for the Summer Games up at Central Michigan University. I got to line up down the football field with the other volunteers and high five the athletes as they gathered to light the torch. I even danced with some of them afterwards in the excitement of possibly winning the gold. I met my area 28 the next morning during the volleyball tournaments where I was being a line ref. I was so ecstatic to cheer on my area and keep their hopes up as they were losing in the beginning. The next couple of games, they begin to have a brighter outlook and start working together as a team to win the first round. I also made many new friends that I hope I will be able to see again in the future.
